About

I’m Mark Sheerin and your child need not call me Mr or even Dr! I’m a tutor, an exam invigilator and a school reviewer for The Good Schools Guide. I have a first class degree in English from Warwick and as a post grad at Sussex I gained a distinction at MA level English along with a PhD in History of Art. I have also been a copywriter, a journalist and an art writer.

I live in the Fiveways area of Brighton, as do my students usually, with a daughter in GCSE years, a partner in academia and a pair of tabby cats, one of whom has three legs. Scroll down for picture.

Local dad Julian wrote: “Mark really helped my son with his GCSE English. Not just to get across the content, but also the practicalities of exam technique, understanding how to answer the questions. He has a great rapport with young people as well as huge knowledge and enthusiasm for English.”

Another parent, Abbas, wrote: “Mark uses a range of teaching approaches to engage our 14-year old and help him take pride in his achievements. This has included structured creative writing exercises to make him realise that he had access to a much larger range of adjectives and descriptors than he realised. Our son really enjoys his lessons with Mark and recognises the difference it has made to him. “

If you think you’ve got a young person who would like support with this compelling STEM subject, why not book a meeting or a call to see how I might help? Thanks for reading.
